The HTC community is also concerned with robustness and reliability of jobs over a long-time scale. That is, being able to create a reliable system from unreliable components. This research is similar to transaction processing, but at a much larger and distributed scale.

Some HTC systems, such as Condor and PBS, can run tasks on opportunistic resources. It is a difficult problem, however, to operate in this environment. On one hand the system needs to provide a reliable operating environment for the user’s jobs, but at the same time the system must not compromise the integrity of the execute node and allow the owner to always have full control of their resources.

‘Design’ definitely isn’t the number one thing when it comes to websites. Good functionality is much more preferable. There are a lot of flashy looking designs for websites out there but they are utterly useless from a users point of view. A website that someone can’t find their way around, may as well not be there - people’s attention span online is extremely short. I believe if someone can’t find what they want within about 30secs they are highly likely to look elsewhere if there are alternatives available.

If you want to be a great web designer, then you should be looking at programming and coding; how the website navigates and how easy it is for someone to understand it, more than the visuals. If you can understand the mechanics of how to put together a website very easily, then you can fairly easily find someone else who can do the artist side. If you are good at the coding side of things there is a lot more job opportunities and better pay available than if you do the design side.
